Humanist Canada (formerly, the Humanist Association of Canada) is a national not-for-profit charitable organization that promotes and supports educational initiatives to advance critical thinking and humanist culture, social and outreach opportunities for non-believers, and advocacy for equality and fairness for all Canadians. Founded in 1968 as a small lobby group, the organization now includes affiliates across Canada and is 100% Canadian-owned and managed. Humanist Canada is a member organization of the International Humanist and Ethical Union.

We are an educational charity with a legal mandate to educate and provide training to the public in the application of skeptical, secular, rational, and humanistic enquiry through conferences, symposia, lectures, published works and the maintenance of a library, and to develop communities where like-minded individuals can meet and share their experiences. We focus on three broad areas:
Serving the needs and concerns of local humanists in Ontario - including local, regional, national and international - on issues of particular concern to Ontarians. This includes the provision of ceremony services for those who seek them. Serving as an umbrella group for local humanist groups in Ontario to facilitate communication among them. Providing assistance to humanists in areas where there are no local groups. Assisting in the formation of local groups in areas where none hitherto exist.

Ottawa Skeptics aims to promote the use of the scientific method, critical thinking and rational thought in our community. Ottawa Skeptics supports high standards of scientific integrity, academic freedom and the free exchange of ideas. We have one bias: Science is the best method for determining objective truth.
